each artist created a painting. these ‘prime’
paintings were exchanged an lived-with
for one week. each artist then created a
painting in response to the other’s prime
painting. these secondary paintings were
exchanged and lived-with for a week. each
artist then created a painting based off the
other’s secondary painting. these paintings
were exchanged. this cycle of response and
reaction will continue till october 1, when
30+ original, response-paintings will go
on exhibit at argo tea’s randolph street cafe
as a part of the chicago office of culture and
tourism’s ‘chicago artist month.

'a little over three years ago, i began to hear whispers of another world--a perfect place where a typeface designer named 53947 dreamt of salvation on the top of a high hill. for two years, i unknowingly peered into his world through gut-rehab windows i found in alleys of chicago. whenever i focused my sight, i opened spiraling red portals--tunnels ripped through the fabric of both worlds. these tunnels remained open, frozen in acrylic and cardboard in my paintings. they carried his story to me and my story to him in whispered fragments till the day of typeface designer's sublime awakening through an image i painted into his sky. now his story comes in controlled torrents of resonant energy. he reveals his world to me so that i might reveal it to you.' -lewis lain
