respond.react is a “reactionary exhibition of artistic responses.” on may 15,2011 john bambino and lewis lain initiated an experiment in collaboration. each artist created a painting. these ‘prime’ paintings were exchanged and lived-with for one week. each artist then created a painting in response to the other’s prime painting. these second paintings were exchanged and lived-with for a week. each artist then created a painting based off the other’s second painting. these paintings were then exchanged. this cycle of response and reaction resulted in the series you see here.
respond.react is part of chicago artists month 2011, the sixteenth annual celebration of chicago’s vibrant visual art community presented by the chicago department of cultural affairs and special events and the chicago office of tourism and culture.
